"Life is ever changing. It's a leap of faith, and it's a comfort to know that when I don't know what the future holds, I know Who holds the future. Recording my debut album has been a real life-journey. I have met so many wonderful people along the way and I have so enjoyed seeing this (nearly) three year project through to completion, it's been a dream come true! The in-between studio recording stages have been more difficult, but ever-challenging. Thanks to the oil industry and God's provision it has taken me from London to Holland, all over Egypt, Tanzania, and Uganda, in order to pay for this self financed debut album!
The journey began by meeting an amazing fellow believer, Bob Cranham, who agreed to become my record producer, which has enabled me to follow and fulfill my ambition. Recording started in November 2005 and has taken placeat The Soundhouse Ltd., Sheperds Bush, and ICC Studios Eastbourne. The journey was completed on July 4th 2008, when we went to Abbey Road for mastering and what a day that was! But as Bob keeps reminding me, that wasn't the end, it was just the beginning. So from life's beginnings to life's conclusions, take a journey with me for a while, enjoy the ride and especially the music - I believe I have something to say, if you care to listen." Yours, Gavin M. Cox.
The band members were put together by Bob Cranham (my Record Producer), and includes some of the UK's top session musicians, (including some ex-Brit School), with long and influential careers. In addition I play guitar and piano on a number of tracks, plus all my lead and backing vocals. I wrote the words and music to all 12 tracks that we chose for the album, and Bob has done a marvellous job on the arrangements and has recorded the bulk of the guitar tracks and some keyboard work.
